Overview
As part of a university-wide website redesign initiative, I led the content strategy and implementation for the Texas Tech University School of Art website. The project encompassed approximately 40 pages and 25 academic programs, along with dedicated content for galleries, faculty, recruitment, advising, and student services.
My role was to transform a large volume of decentralized content into a cohesive, accessible, and search-optimized digital experience while maintaining Texas Tech's established brand standards.
My Role
I served as the School of Art's primary website and content manager throughout the redesign, coordinating across IT, faculty, recruitment, advising, and university leadership.
I managed content through OU Campus CMS and maintained our digital library of photography, graphics, and marketing assets through SharePoint. As the primary editor, I wrote and refined website copy while working with stakeholders to ensure information was accurate, relevant, and consistent across academic programs.
SEO & Digital Strategy
Search visibility was an important component of the redesign. I managed keyword strategy, page titles, metadata, content hierarchy, and other on-page SEO elements to improve how prospective students and other audiences discovered School of Art content through search.
Post-launch analytics showed a substantial improvement in organic discovery, with search-engine traffic increasing by approximately 200% during my management of the site.
Web Accessibility
I worked closely with university teams to ensure content followed web accessibility and WCAG-aligned standards.
My responsibilities included image alt text, heading hierarchy, descriptive links, accessible PDFs and documents, captions and transcripts, color contrast, and identifying and remediating accessibility issues throughout the site.
Ongoing Management
Following launch, I became the primary manager responsible for the School of Art website, overseeing ongoing content updates, CMS management, SEO, digital assets, graphics, and website maintenance.
The project required balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders while maintaining a consistent brand, clear messaging, and user-focused digital experience.
